With any epilator it really tugs on your skin and with me i have very thick hair and i used it on my legs, arms, and armpits. It left me marks and the re-growth is thin hair BUT and i emphasize on that "BUT" because some of the re-growth is so thin that its not strong enough to break through the skin so hair keeps growing under the skin. That only happenned on my legs and armpits. I had purchased this in oct of 09' and stopped after a good 6 months also due to the fact that it cut my skin no matter how gently i used it so it left me marks and scars that are just now diminishing little by little. I'd recommend it on the arms, and for some they could use it on their armpits just make sure you exfoiliate beforehand. As for the hair that was growing underneath the skin i had to cut my skin in order to get them out which is the only way.

I love it! I have really coarse hair so it takes a little while to get em all but no longer than it would waxing and i can epilate anytime! it's so convenient that my boyfriend decided to try it.

Not 100% sure on this. I love the fact that it gets more with 1-2 passes but I seem to epolilate more often with this one than I did with my Emjoi Caress. But then again it could be because we have frigid temps right now too.

I don't have much experience with epilators. The last one I used was Braun and it was years ago, it was painful experience after which I decided to never use epilators again. I'm glad I bumped into youtube reviews of Emjoi, decided to give it a try and I love it. I actually bought it for my armpits and it that area it did an excellent job. It was not as painful as other hair removal techniques I used, and mind you my hair there is pretty thick and dark so if you have less hair that would be less pain . Couldn't give it an "awesome" rating because I didn't like how it doesn't remove hair from the first time and causes breaking, especially on my legs., had to go over one section couple of times.

this thing looks scary I still need to get used to the pain, I used it on my arm pit. It took me like 2 hours to finish one, cuz ive been shaving since forever, so my hairs are thick under there. So it hurt. I would recommend people to put ice wherever your goin to epilate if its your first time, The ice will sorta numb out the pain. but it did irritate my skin maybe because it was my first time using it. i don't know but putting on deodorant hurt alot.
I really don't care about the pain, I don't like the shadow under the arm pit and i will get used to it but i do have to say it is painful so be prepared for the pain.

This is my first time using an epilator and I love using this product! I was scared of the pain but it didn't really hurt at all as long as you hold your skin taut. I was even brave enough to use it on my bikini line and it wasn't painful (just light pinching). If you're still scared of the pain, then start out by following the directions of technique the manual says (short strokes). I find that underneath the thighs feel the most "pain" just to warn women. Hold the skin VERY tight in that area.
The first time I used it I had red bumps all over my legs that lasted the whole day, but after the second time, no more red bumps! And I found that with every use your legs get closer and closer to being smooth like shaving! Learning how to get the right technique can be annoying, but once you got it, you'll be amazed at the results! For me, with my thick hair, I like using speed 2 because speed 1 broke more of my hairs instead of pulling them out.
So the bottom line is, ladies (and possibly gentlemen too), this is a great investment! When I first used this, I was about to trash it because it took so long to get hairs out, I still felt very hairy, and my skin was polka-dotted red. But keep with it, you'll be amazed!
